Terms of use
1. Who we are
Cragfolk is an app for climbers to find crags and routes, share what they know, and find climbing partners. It is run by Alejandro Rodríguez Moreno, NIF 45366183V, Calle La Cueva 9, El Pagador, 35420 Moya (Las Palmas), Spain ("we", "us"). You can contact us at hola@cragfolk.com.
2. Accepting these terms
By creating an account or using Cragfolk you agree to these terms, our Community rules and our Privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
3. Who can use Cragfolk
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- You must be at least 18 to use Partners (finding people to climb with).
- You can have one personal account. Accounts for clubs, gyms or businesses may come later under separate rules.
4. Your account
- You sign in with a code sent to your email. Keep access to that email safe; anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
- Don't pretend to be another person or organisation.
- You're responsible for what's done with your account. Tell us at hola@cragfolk.com if you think someone else has used it.
5. What you post, and the permission you give us
You can add posts, photos, comments, ratings, tips and suggestions about crags and routes ("your content").
- You keep ownership. Your content stays yours. We don't sell it.
- The permission you give us. So that Cragfolk can work, you give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide permission to store, copy, show, resize, format and translate your content in the app and on cragfolk.com, and to let our service providers do this for us. This permission is only for running and promoting Cragfolk.
- When it ends. The permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for: copies kept for a short time in backups; content other climbers have already shared or replied to; and approved crag and route information (see below).
- Crag and route information. Approved tips, corrections and access notes become part of the shared crag guide. If you delete your account, we keep them but remove your name and any link to you, so they no longer identify you.
- What you promise. You only post content you created yourself or have permission to share. If a photo shows other people, they agree to it being shared. Your content follows our Community rules and the law.
- Content from other sources. Don't copy text, topos, photos or route lists from guidebooks, other apps or websites. Facts you know first-hand, in your own words, are welcome.
- OpenStreetMap. Some crag data comes from OpenStreetMap and is shown under its own licence (© OpenStreetMap contributors). Corrections to that data may be shared under the same licence.
6. Climbing is at your own risk
Climbing is dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Crag and route information on Cragfolk comes from climbers and open sources such as OpenStreetMap. It can be wrong, incomplete or out of date: grades, bolts, rock quality, approaches, access rules and closures all change.
- Always check the rock, the gear and the conditions yourself, and decide for yourself whether it's safe.
- Follow local rules, permits and seasonal closures. Official sources (for example the island council, the town hall or the natural park) take priority over anything on Cragfolk.
- Cragfolk is not a guidebook, a guide service or an instructor.
7. Meeting other climbers (Partners)
Partners helps adults find people to climb with. We don't check who people are, their experience or their skills.
- Meet in public places first, tell someone where you're going, and check your partner's skills and gear before you climb together.
- You decide whether to climb with someone, and you're responsible for that choice.
- Report anyone who behaves badly or seems unsafe. We'll look at every report.
8. Reports, removals and suspensions
- Anyone can report content they think breaks the law or our Community rules, using the Report button in the app or by writing to hola@cragfolk.com. You don't need an account to report.
- We look at every report and decide fairly and without bias. The steps are explained in How reports are handled.
- We may hide or remove content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that break these terms, the Community rules or the law. When we do, we tell you what we did, why, and which rule it was based on, unless the law stops us or it would put someone at risk.
- If you disagree with a decision, reply to our message and someone will look at it again. You can also go to the courts.
- We may report content that suggests a threat to someone's life or safety to the police.
9. Ending your account
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings. This deletes your profile, posts, photos, comments, likes and ratings. Approved crag and route information stays without your name, as explained in section 5. See Delete your account.
- We may close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, after telling you why. If Cragfolk ever shuts down, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice so you can download your content.
10. The service and our responsibility
- Cragfolk is free. If we add paid features later, they'll have their own terms and you'll choose whether to use them.
- We work to keep Cragfolk running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free, and we may change or remove features.
- We are responsible for harm we cause on purpose or through gross negligence, and in any other case where the law doesn't allow us to limit it. We aren't responsible for what climbers post, for decisions you make at the crag, or for what happens between you and people you meet through Cragfolk.
- Nothing in these terms reduces your rights as a consumer.
11. Changes to these terms
If we make important changes, we'll tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before they apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account before then. Small fixes (typos, clearer wording) apply straight away.
12. Law and courts
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you live in the EU, you also keep the protection of your own country's consumer laws, and you can go to the courts where you live.
